It was created in order to provide community-based (non-institutional) opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.The name of the organization was formally changed in 1989 to The Sarnia & District Association for Community Living, but we are also known as Community Living Sarnia-Lambton. Community Living Sarnia-Lambton (CLSL) was first organized 'officially' in 1956 as a non-profit, charitable corporation called the Sarnia & District Association for the Mentally Retarded.
